Your “Display Name” is the name that will be displayedthroughout the Polar Cloud on objects you post, on yourprint jobs listed in printer print queues, on your membershiptile in groups of which you are a member, on your tile in aprinter “MEMBERS” list, on your member profile page, as well asbeing the name by which another Polar Cloud member may SEARCH for you (to share an object, invite you to join a group, invite you to access a printer, etc.). As such, put some thoughtinto what you would like displayed: consider whether youwish to be easily identifiable when other members search orview objects you posted, or search for you, or whether youprefer a more obscure or symbolic name. Teachers may alsowish to advise students on “appropriate” choice of displayname. If you do not explicitly set a “Display Name” value, your “FirstName” and “Last Name” will be combined and used. To set ormodify your display name, click on the field underneath “DisplayName”, enter your desired name, and then click the “SAVE”button.
Figure 3.12: Polar Cloud account Position
While the default “Position” value for newly created PolarCloud accounts is “Student”, if you are a teacher or administrator(or IT support person or other non-student), you will probably wishto set the “Position” field to properly represent your status; seeFigure 3.12.
When “Position” is set to “Student”, “Educator”, or“Administrator”, then additional fields “School” and “District”may optionally be set; when “Position” is set to “Other”, thenan “Organization” field is available instead. “Location”,“Biography”, and “Website URL” fields are also settable.
Figure 3.13: Polar Cloud account ADD EMAIL screen
When you first created your Polar Cloud account, you effectivelyassociated an email address for your Polar Cloud account:the email associated with the Google, Facebook, MicrosoftLive, or Microsoft Office 365 account you used to login to thePolar Cloud; see Section 3.1. That primary email address(which is displayed towards your “ACCOUNT” screen’s lowerleft under “Email”, see Figure 3.11 or Figure 3.12), may notbe changed for your Polar Cloud account. But if you haveanother email address and account you’d like to be able to use tologin to this same Polar Cloud account (for instance, perhapsyou’d like to be able to login to this same Polar Cloud accountusing either your Google or your Facebook credentials), thenyou may use the “+ ADD EMAIL” button towards the lowerleft of the “SETTINGS” screen (between “Website URL” and“PIN Code”). Clicking the “+ ADD EMAIL” button will bringup a “ADD EMAIL” screen; enter the desired additional emailaddressand click the “ADD” button; see Figure 3.13. Then follow theinstructions in the email message that the Polar Cloud will send tothat email address.
A “PIN Code” is generated for you when your Polar Cloudaccount is first created. Your current “PIN Code” value is used inthe process of registering a non-Polar3D printer to your account. You may change your “PIN Code”, if you wish, though you maywish to make any such change before registering non-Polar3Dprinters to your account, as some types of printer may store the“PIN Code” value you provided and use it not just during initialregistration, but also subsequently.
Make sure to click the “SAVE” button (toward the upper right ofthe account screen) after making any changes to your accountsettings; note that the “SAVE” button will appear in red when thereare changes that could be saved. (If you change your mindabout changes before saving them, you may use the “RESET”button.)
